The Cannon Hill Civil War Site project is a cultural landscape plan designed by Hays LAS in conjunction with The Mills Group of Morgantown, WV for the Rowlesburg Historical Society. During the Civil War, Union solders climbed to the top of the hill with cannons positioned to protect adjacent rail crossings. Today, remnants of the cannon path, battery, magazine area, bivouac (living area) and rear defense still remain. The Master Plan proposes restoration as well as a series of ADA accessible paths that connects site improvements. |
